Shopping in the Maldive

Male is the commercial hub of the Maldives. Apart from the neighbourhood convenience stores, there are many aspects to shopping in the Maldives.

The Northern end of Chandhanee Magu is famed for its souvenir shops. They offer local handicraft, tee shirts, batiks and a wide variety of books on the Maldives in different languages.

Books on Maldives and on many other topics including fiction are available across different book stores in the city.

Majeedee Magu and other main streets are lined with shops selling clothing, shoes and a variety of other products. Some shops specialize in internationally renowned brands of sports goods, clothing and lifestyle products apart from electronics.

Shops are generally open from morning to 11 pm.
